Education & Experience

I received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology in 2009 and a Master’s of Social Work degree in 2011 from Radford University. I started my professional career in child welfare and gained much of my initial clinical experience from crisis services, community mental health, and school-based therapy work. I received my initial clinical licensure in Virginia in 2015. In 2016, I shifted into medical social work within the specialty of chronic disease. In 2018, I gained my certification as a mental health provider by Equine-Assisted Growth & Learning Association (EAGALA) and started my journey of providing individual & group equine psychotherapy as well as equine-assisted learning (EAL), which I have found to be the most profound treatment I’ve provided as well as my primary passion.

In 2019, went to work at Veterans Affairs (VA) with the hope and intention of providing equine psychotherapy to veterans. I started out providing group equine psychotherapy for veterans with serious mental illness in an intensive outpatient program (IOP). I later moved these services with me to Women’s Health and provided group equine psychotherapy to female veterans. I am now hoping to expand this work at Horses with Hearts in Martinsburg, West Virginia as I shift into private practice.

  • Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
